David Bashford, Esq., is general counsel and chief operating officer at Van Gilder
Insurance Corporation, a Colorado based commercial, benefits, and personal insurance
consulting and brokerage firm. David has worked in the insurance industry for nearly twenty
years, previously as president of the insurance subsidiary of a public financial services firm
and as chief operating officer of a private boutique employee benefits firm. Over his career,
David has taught extensively on a variety of insurance and legal topics, including insurance
contracting and coverage, transaction and due diligence considerations, a variety of ERISA related topics, and legislative analysis. David is a Colorado native who received his J.D. from
the University of Denver.
