Jason D. Carrithers

1st Judicial District
Honorable Jason D. Carrithers is a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis on December 3, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Christine Bachmeyer Phillips. Prior to his appointment, Judge Carrithers was a magistrate for the 1st Judicial District Court, a position to which he was named in 2012. In that capacity, he presided over domestic relations, dependency and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and paternity and adoption matters. Judge Carrithers earned a bachelor's degree from Regis University in 2000. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2003. After graduating from law school, he joined the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center. He started as a staff attorney, rising through the ranks to become a senior attorney (2008) and the Director of the Child Advocacy Practicum (2008 to 2012)
