Beth Magnuson, Esq., is a Senior Specialist Legal Editor at Thomson Reuters Practical Law, where she develops and maintains data privacy and cybersecurity resources to help legal professionals stay current in this rapidly evolving field. Her work covers key topics such as U.S. federal and state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar state consumer privacy laws, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), cross-border data transfers, drafting privacy policies, advertising practices, and data breach compliance. Beth brings extensive in-house and law firm experience, including serving as managing counsel at Oracle and holding roles in intellectual property and general counsel positions earlier in her career. She earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law and holds multiple privacy certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, including CIPP/US, CIPP/E, and CIPM.
