Sharlene Aitken, Esq., founded Aitken Law, LLC in 2011. She practices exclusively in civil state appellate law in the appellate and state courts, working closely with trial counsel including handling remand hearings either 1st or 2nd chair post-appeal. Ms. Aitken has argued in front of the Colorado Court of Appeals in about three dozen cases and several times at the Colorado Supreme Court over the course of her career. She also serves as a consultant for trial counsel on appellate law. Ms. Aitken has several published opinions and has presented on various Appellate CLEs for many years. She is a member of the CBA Appellate Practice Section currently serving as Vice-Chair of the CLE Committee. Ms. Aitken served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the CBA Appellate Practice Section for 23-25 terms and past Chair and Vice-Chair of the CLE Committee for 21-23 terms. She is also a member of the CBA Appeals Clinic Committee, CBA Family Law Section, Adams Broomfield Bar Association. She is a past member of the CBA Solo-Small Firm Litigation Section (Judicial Nominees Committee), the CBA Appellate Pro Bono Screening Committee and 17th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission. She volunteers her time with 17th Judicial District for Law Day. She is admitted to the Colorado bar, the U.S. District Court of Colorado, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court. She graduated from Sturm College of Law, University of Denver in 2003 and California State University, San Bernardino, B.A., in 1997.
