Melinda Taylor is the Director of the Honoring Families Initiative, which is committed to advancing, empirically based models for dignified and fair processes for the resolution of divorce and child custody cases in a manner that is more accessible and more responsive to children, parents, and families. Taylor joins IAALS after working for eight years as District Court Administrator for Colorado's 17th Judicial District. As District Administrator, she coached over 160 employees and 30 judicial officers, coordinated the activities of Adams and Broomfield counties, provided caseflow management in conjunction with the clerk's office, and developed and implemented new policies in conjunction with judges and court staff. During this time, she worked with IAALS and the Colorado Judicial Branch to implement the Colorado Civil Access Pilot Project. Prior to her work as District Administrator, Taylor worked for the Colorado Judicial Branch State Court Administrator's Office in judicial education and policy analysis in the family area. As a Judicial Education Coordinator, she planned the annual Judicial Conference and Family Law Conference; planned, developed, and administered a comprehensive communications and education program for Colorado judges; and performed budget oversight and resource acquisition for judicial education programs. Taylor earned her B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from Regis University and graduated cum laude. She earned her M.S. in Legal Administration for the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
