D. Merc Pittinos, Esq., is a partner at Burns, Figa & Will, P.C. where he focuses his practice in the areas of real estate and commercial litigation.  Merc is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Merc has written extensively about Colorado's adverse possession law.  He is the co-author of Adverse Possession after House Bill 1148, 37 Colo. Law. 73 (Nov. 2008) an article summarizing Colorado's adverse possession law and changes that the Colorado General Assembly made in 2008 to statutory adverse possession law. While in law school, Merc served as the Managing Editor for the University of Denver Water Law Review.  His honors included a Student Leadership Award for helping to establish the University of Denver College of Law's Loan Repayment Assistance Program.  He received American Jurisprudence Awards in Hazardous Waste and Toxic Substances and Lawyering Process and the Earthjustice Award for Environmental Advocacy.
