Trygve E. Kjellsen

Dorsey & Whitney LLP is deeply saddened that our partner and friend Trygve Kjellsen passed away in 2013.Trygve received a BS degree from Truman State University in 1995 and a JD degree from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 1998. He joined Dorsey as a partner in the Corporate Group in our Denver office at the beginning of 2013. Before joining the firm, Trygve was a partner in the Denver office of Faegre Baker Daniels. Before joining Faegre, he was a partner in the Denver office of Lathrop & Gage LLP (formerly Kamlet Reichert, LLP), corporate counsel for First Data Corporation, and an associate with Hogan & Hartson LLP and Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP.
 
Trygve was an extremely talented corporate lawyer whose practice focused on a broad range of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate finance transactions. He had a loyal following of corporate clients, including Molson Coors Brewing, Western Union, Liberty Global, and others. He was a frequent CLE speaker and writer on corporate law topics and served as the CBA Business Law Section’s co-editor for The Colorado Lawyer. He was also the author of the chapter on M&A in The Practitioner’s Guide to Colorado Business Organizations.
Trygve was an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. He was a past director and executive committee member of the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the natural integrity of Colorado’s fifty-four 14,000-foot peaks—the "Fourteeners"—through active stewardship and public education.
