Karen Cody-Hopkins, Esq., is a Colorado attorney whose practice focuses on student loan law and consumer bankruptcy with some work as local counsel in class action and shareholder derivative cases.   She practiced primarily class action law from 1993 - 2002 in Minnesota before moving to Colorado.  She began focusing on student loan cases in 2006 - first on 523(a)(8) adversaries in bankruptcy, then on all aspects of student loan law from federal loan management, repayment plan analysis, defaulted loan rehabilitation or consolidation, collection litigation defense, debt negotiation, etc.  She received her B.A. from Smith College, her M.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Chicago, and her J.D. from Mitchell-Hamline Law School.  Ms. Cody-Hopkins has taught a number of CLEs on student loan law for a variety of sponsors.
