Keith . Whitelaw
ConsultantKeith Whitelaw is chairman and CEO of Whitelaw Consulting Group Ltd. and is currently a consultant to the World Bank Group, Washington, D.C. regarding global business, commercial/personal property, insolvency, credit reporting, and regulatory laws and registries. He is a former director of the Business Division of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office (1997-2011). He graduated from Yale University and attended Vanderbilt Law School before receiving his J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Colorado. Mr. Whitelaw served on the board of the Colorado Central Indexing System and on the Colorado Central Information System Board, created and served on the Colorado Secretary of State’s Article 9.5 Task Force, and currently is a member of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Business Division Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Task Force on Revised Article 9 of Colorado’s Uniform Commercial Code, currently serves on the Statutory Drafting Committee of the Business Entities Subsection, and is an at-large member of the CBA Business Law Section Executive Council. He also has served on numerous community organization boards.
Mr. Whitelaw is a past president of the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) and a participant at the European Commerce Registers Forum (ECRF) Business Register Conference in Düsseldorf. He has been a frequent speaker at Colorado continuing legal education events and constituent conferences, and his articles have appeared in legal publications. He has more than 25 years of experience in the practice of law in Denver, both in private practice and as in-house counsel at Qwest Communications, focusing on transactional law. During his additional 13+ years with the Secretary of State, Mr. Whitelaw’s duties included formulating policy, advising on legal matters, managing contract issues, interpreting statutes, drafting and analyzing legislation, lobbying, developing systems and applications, and fostering external relations.
