Walker & Dunlop, Inc.Stephen Erwin is the managing director of Avant-Garde Advisors' Entertainment Wealth Management Division, and the managing member of Highlander Law Firm's Entertainment and Financial Services Practice. Stephen is a twenty-five year veteran of the entertainment industry, starting his career as a recording engineer and artist manager. Stephen provides full service wealth and asset management services to high-net-with clients with a focus on entertainment and athlete clients, entrepreneurs and attorney clients. At Avant-Garde, he strives to bring sophisticated institutional and family office wealth management techniques to his clients that have traditionally been available only to large institutions, family offices and foundations, while maintaining a high level of personal attention and service to clients. As a wealth management and financial services attorney, Stephen has served as general counsel and chief compliance officer for multiple wealth management and hedge fund firms. His experience includes formation and due diligence team leadership in the creation and management of numerous single and multi-strategy on-shore and off-shore hedge fund products, as well as drafting and negotiating all types or financial services agreements, managing private placements and litigating high profile cases in the entertainment and financial services industries. Finally, Stephen has developed an expertise in providing gate-keeping due diligence services to athletes and entertainers by conducting preliminary and comprehensive review and evaluation of all types of private investment and business opportunity services in order to ensure that such opportunities are legitimate, represent the best opportunity for the client, and fit within the client overall business and investment strategies. Stephen holds a degree in recording engineering and entertainment business from Full Sail University, a BBA with accounting & law concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a JD, with entertainment and business law concentration, cum laude, from the Florida State University Law School. He has been the Chairman of the Colorado Bar Association Entertainment & Sports Law Section for more than seven years and is active in the American Bar Association Forum on Entertainment & Sports Law. He regularly lectures on entertainment, sports and wealth management issues at law schools, universities, and major industry events.
