Robert J. Kapelke

Robert J. Kapelke received his B.A. from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1963 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1966.  In 1969, he obtained a Master of Comparative Law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law.  After a 25-year career in private practice, primarily in commercial litigation, he was appointed to the Colorado Court of Appeals in 1994.  Since his retirement from that court in 2005, he has been active as a mediator and arbitrator with Judicial Arbiter Group, Inc. Judge Kapelke is a past president of the Denver Bar Association and a past member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association and the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association.  He has also served as president of the Law Club of Denver and as chair of the University of Colorado Law Alumni Board.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In January 2007, Judge Kapelke received the Colorado Bar Association's highest award, the Award of Merit.  He is also a past recipient of the Award of Merit of the Denver Bar Association, a Distinguished Alumnus Award of the CU Law School, and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Law Club of Denver.
