Kris Bates, Esq., is one of Denver Water’s in-house counsel, practicing primarily on employment and benefit-related legal matters. She began working for Denver Water in 2004, as its Legal Division Office Manager, supervising the support staff and assisting the General Counsel. In 2008 she transitioned to the role of attorney and has defended Denver Water in a variety of legal matters involving Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, FMLA, section 1983, qualified immunity, workers compensation, DOT, Wage & Hour, the EPA, ERISA and non-ERISA qualified plans and more. She has participated in a variety of Human Resources-led initiatives, including culture change, learning & organizational development, supervisor training, internal investigations, and policy development. Prior to joining Denver Water, Ms. Bates was the Executive Director of Dress for Success Denver, a non-profit organization providing professional clothing and job coaching to women.
