Casey Frank, Esq., was born in Buffalo, New York, schooled by the Jesuits, lived for years in a Zen Buddhist monastery, and worked as a carpenter for 19 years. He received a BA in American Studies from the State University of New York (1988), a JD from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston (1991), and a Master in Public Health from the University of Colorado (2012). He is currently licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts in Colorado, and formerly in Massachusetts. Since 1994, he has had a trial and business practice addressing a wide range of civil issues for individuals and small businesses. He is also Senior Instructor in Forensic Psychiatry, and Faculty Associate at the Center for Bioethics and the Humanities at the University of Colorado Denver, and legal counsel to the Mental Health Center of Denver. He is one of the founders of the Clinical Ethics Consultancy, an organization that trains hospital medical ethics committees around Colorado. He is the co-editor of the Health Law Column in The Colorado Lawyer. He writes and lectures frequently on how to integrate law and ethics in support of the clinical practice of medicine. He calls the approach “Lawthics."
