H Clay . Hurst

18th Judicial District
Magistrate H. Clay Hurst was appointed to the 18th Judicial District Court Bench as a Magistrate on January 7, 2013.  He was a Domestic Relations Magistrate in Arapahoe County for the past 3 ½ years and is rotated into a Probate docket where he is sitting in Arapahoe County as a District Court Magistrate.  He is a native of Colorado.  He graduated from Metropolitan State College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  He received his Juris Doctorate from the Denver University College of Law in 1996.   Prior to being appointed to the Bench he owned and operated his law firm which specialized in representing parties in the 18th Judicial District on Family Law, Juvenile and Civil matters.  He was a municipal prosecutor, Guardian ad Litem, Child and Family Investigator and represented indigent parties as Court Appointed Counsel in Contempt of Court and Dependency and Neglect matters.  He is also currently serving his second 4 year term as the Mayor of the Town of Elizabeth which is a non-partisan position.
