Barbara L. Hughes
Honorable Barbara Hughes is a District Court Judge in the Fourth Judicial District. Judge Hughes was appointed to the District Court bench by Governor Bill Ritter. Judge Hughes presides predominately over civil, domestic and probate matters. Prior to her appointment as a District Court Judge, she served as a District Court Magistrate for the Fourth Judicial District handling will and trust matters as well as adult and child guardianships, conservatorships and other protective proceedings. She also presided over family law cases including protective orders court. Judge Hughes is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Women's Bar Association, and the El Paso County Bar Association. Prior to her employment with the Fourth Judicial District, Judge Hughes was the Deputy Director of the Colorado Legal Services office in Colorado Springs. Judge Hughes is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law.
