Nancy E . Rice
Honorable Nancy Rice was appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court on August 5, 1998. Prior to that appointment she served as a Denver District Court Judge from 1987 to 1998. Prior to taking the bench, she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney (District of Colorado) from 1977 to 1987, serving as Deputy Chief of the Civil Division from 1985 to 1987. Chief Justice Rice worked for the Deputy State Public Defender- Appellate Division from 1976 to 1977, and as a law clerk for Judge Fred Winner of the U.S. District Court - District of Colorado, from 1975 to 1976. Chief Justice Rice is an Adjunct Professor of Law for the University of Colorado School of Law, where she has been teaching trial advocacy since 1987.
