Michael J. Barbo

Honorable Michael Barbo, was born in Wichita KS in 1942, and grew up in KS, OK, MO, and CO. Judge Barbo received a Bachelor's degree in chemistry and zoology from the University of Colorado in 1964. Following college, he enlisted in the service, went to officer candidate school and was commissioned in the U.S, Navy. Following his release from active duty, he returned to Denver, and began employment with the Travelers Insurance Company as a general adjuster, and attended D. U. Law School at night. Judge Barbo received his law degree in 1972, but did not enter the practice of law until 1975. Between 1969 and 1975, he was the supervisor for the Travelers Workers Compensation unit. With short forays into private practice, employment with the State Compensation Insurance Fund, and the Colorado Compensation Insurance Authority, his practice was with the house counsel programs for Travelers Insurance Company, and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. He began employment with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment in September of 2011 as a temporary PALJ. In April of 2013 he became a permanent part-time PALJ.
