Diana L. Terry

Honorable Diana Terry was appointed to the Colorado Court of Appeals in 2006, after a judicial clerkship followed by 21 years practicing complex commercial litigation. She received her B.A. degree in 1979 from Rutgers College, with High Honors, Highest Departmental Distinction, and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1984, she was awarded her J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law (Newark), where she was Managing Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. Judge Terry is the chair of the Probate Rules Committee, and a member and past president of both the Thompson G. Marsh American Inn of Court and the Law Club of Denver. She has been a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy since 1995, and is a frequent CLE presenter. She has been designated by the Chief Judge as the trainer for newly appointed Colorado Court of Appeals judges. Her legal publications include “Persuasive Techniques in Oral Argument,” American Bar Association Section on Environment, Energy and Resources (2016); “Putting Your Best Foot Forward - Improving the Effectiveness of Appellate Advocacy,” 37 Colo. Law. 111 (July 2008); and “Transporter Liability Under CERCLA,” 16 Envtl. L. Rep. 10244 (co-author) (September 1986). She received the Annual Judicial Award from the Colorado Women's Bar Association (2013), was named a Colorado SuperLawyer by 5280 Magazine (2006), and was a Law Club Achievement Award Honoree (2005).
