C. Jan . Lord
The Law Office of C Jan Lord LLCJan Lord, Esq., graduated from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, in 1980. Her liberal arts undergraduate study emphasized political science, history and the French language. She received her law degree from the University of Colorado in 1983 where she was a published member of the University of Colorado Law Review. Her initial career interests concerned local government matters; she worked as an Assistant County Attorney for Weld County and Boulder County, Colorado. During each of those tenures her responsibilities included prosecution of the County's mental health certification proceedings. She was lead counsel on the pivotal mental health case, People in the Interest of Clinton, decided by the Colorado Supreme Court. Jan served as the managing attorney for the Las Vegas office of Nevada Legal Services for three years during which time she also served on the Board of Directors for the Clark County Pro Bono Project. In 1999, she acted on her growing interest in elder law issues and entered private practice. Jan focuses her solo practice on elderlaw, including Medicaid planning and VA planning for long-term care matters and asset protection; estate planning including special needs trusts; and probate of estates. She is active in her community and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association Elder Law Section as well as the Larimer County Bar Association.
