Barbara J. Furutani

Barbara J Furutani PC
Barbara Furutani, Esq., worked for the State of Colorado before attending law school as Assistant Budget Officer in the Department of Natural Resources. While attending law school at night at the University of Denver, Barbara clerked for 3 different law firms, which convinced her that she never wanted to work for an attorney again. (She has often stated that there are 3 groups of people she would never want to work for because of their poor people skills - lawyers, doctors and engineers.) Since Barbara knew nothing about operating a law practice, she opened her own law practice after law school and by pure luck she didn't go bankrupt. (When Barbara's accountant learned how little money Barbara had when she opened the practice, the accountant almost fainted.) Barbara practiced law for over 30 years in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, and Social Security disability as a plaintiff's/claimant's attorney. (As her colleagues and staff knew, Barbara was actually running a social services agency that pretended to be a law practice.) However, helping her clients get medical and rehabilitation benefits was great practice for what Barbara decided to do in the final 1/3 of her work life. Barbara now works as a life coach in which she focuses on helping people to learn how to deal with change or transitions, especially attorneys. Barbara has a number of tools that she uses to help her clients see that the answers to what they want to do in their lives are inside them - they just sometimes need help to find the answers. In addition to coaching, Barbara has recently begun a podcast. She has been very concerned that young people are bombarded by media and social media that constantly tells them that everything about them is wrong and their world is a place to be feared. So she wants to provide a safe place for young people to feel they can express their feelings and thoughts without any criticism, and hear from experts in areas that affect young people. Barbara's hope is that young people, and their friends and family, will join the community to allow themselves to be heard without any hate or cruelty being tolerated.
