noneBarbara Shaklee, Esq., is Assistant Director of the Human Services Section of the Denver City Attorney's Office. She provides legal advice to the Denver Department of Human Services and supervises the Child Protection attorneys who handle all of Denver's civil child abuse and neglect cases. In her 27-year law practice she has represented all parties in child welfare cases. She is currently the Chair of the CBA Juvenile Law Section. She is also co-editor of the Juvenile Law Column of The Colorado Lawyer, the journal of the Colorado Bar Association. In 2008, Governor Bill Ritter appointed Barbara to serve on the Governor's Child Welfare Action Committee for a term of 18 months. The purpose of the Action Committee was to review Colorado's child welfare system and recommend changes to improve child protection while enhancing public confidence and increasing transparency of the child welfare system's actions. Barbara has presented training programs for the Kempe National Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, the Colorado and Denver Departments of Human Services, University of Denver College of Law, Denver Juvenile Court, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Colorado County Attorney's Association.
