Elizabeth A. Starrs
Judicial Arbiter GroupHonorable Elizabeth A. Starrs was a Denver District Court Judge from 2012-2020. She has been at the Judicial Arbiter Group since October 2020 conducting settlement conferences, arbitrations, and special master work as well as performing other alternative dispute resolution and litigation services. Before being appointed to the bench, Liz was in the private practice of law for more than 30 years. Her practice consisted of civil litigation, primarily professional malpractice, wrongful death, and employment, both defense and plaintiff. Over the years, Liz has been very involved with and has held leadership positions in several professional organizations and community activities, including the Colorado Bar Association (President 2006-2007), Denver Bar Association (President 2002-2003), the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Foundation, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Association of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, The Thompson G. Marsh & Lucy Marsh Inn of Court, the Spina Bifida Association of Colorado, the Florence Crittenton School, and the Girl Scouts of America. Liz has also won many awards, including the Denver Bar Association’s Judicial Excellence Award (2019) and the Mary Lathrop Award, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association’s highest honor (2009).
