Sharon E. Caulfield
Caulfield Law LLCSharon E. Caulfield is a Member of Caplan and Earnest LLC in Boulder, Colorado, where she chairs the firm's healthcare practice group. She has been Chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Health Law Section, a Director of the Colorado Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Chair of the Advisory Board for the University of Colorado's Center for Bioethics and Humanities, and Adjunct Professor for the University of Colorado School of Law, teaching Bioethics Law and Literature. Her other professional memberships include the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association's Health Law Section. In 1994-1995, she served as a technical advisor to the Colorado Insurance Commissioner's Licensed Provider Network Financial Standards Advisory Committee. Ms. Caulfield's clients include all types of health care providers. Ms. Caulfield is a frequent speaker on healthcare topics, covering such issues as managed care contracting, corporate compliance programs, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, the regulation of HMOs and other managed care organizations, capitation and the business of insurance, and the Stark laws. She has served on many community organization boards, including as President of the Alumni Association of the University of Colorado at Boulder, as a Director for the University of Colorado Foundation, Inc., as a member of the board of Colorado Community Health Management Information Systems, Inc., as a Vestry member for St. John's Episcopal Church, and as Vice Chancellor for the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado. She is listed in Who's Who in American Law. A California native, Ms. Caulfield attended the University of California at Berkeley from 1974-1976. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in anthropology in 1979, then from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1982. Upon her graduation from law school, Ms. Caulfield became affiliated with Denver's Davis, Graham & Stubbs, and she was a partner of that firm from 1989 until her affiliation with Caplan and Earnest in 1993.
