Randall C. Arp

1st Judicial District
The Honorable Randall C. Arp (Retired) is a 1979 graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, (f.k.a. Moorhead State University), Moorhead, Minnesota and a 1982 graduate of the University of Colorado Law School.  Judge Arp was in private practice from 1982 until 1996 with the Adams County firm of Miller Makkai & Dowdle, P.C. and from 1996 until 2006 with the Jefferson County firm of Bradley Devitt and Arp, P.C. Judge Arp practiced primarily in the areas of family law, criminal law and bankruptcy.  On June 30, 2006 then Governor Bill Owens appointed Judge Arp to the District Court Bench for Jefferson County.  From July 2006 until June 2008 Judge Arp was in Division 12 with a mixed docket, hearing civil, criminal and domestic cases.  In July 2008, Judge Arp was reassigned to Division 14, a dedicated domestic division, and Judge Arp became the first Presiding Domestic Court Judge for Jefferson County.  On April 1, 2010 Judge Arp was reassigned to Division 9, a mixed docket division hearing criminal, civil and domestic cases.  Judge Arp retired from the bench effective December 31, 2023.  He joined the Judicial Arbiters Group April 1, 2024 where he serves as an Arbiter, Mediator and Judge Pro Tempore.  Judge Arp is also a member of the Colorado State Judicial Senior Judge Program.
