John A. Eckstein

John A. Eckstein, Esq., is a director at Fairfield and Woods, PC, Denver, and leads its interdepartmental securities compliance and regulatory group. He is a transactional lawyer who works with complex legal structures in entity and project financings and is the principal 'cold review' partner for disclosure documents for securities transactions, including municipal, school district, and special district bonds, notes and other borrowings.  He is a former nationally recognized bond counsel and served as an adviser to the Colorado Securities Commissioner between 1988 and 1994 with regard to Colorado's adoption of its current disclosure and registration laws for tax exempt bonds. He has spoken often since 2010 on the application by the SEC to municipal offerings of the Dodd Frank Financial Reform Act. He is a former chair of the CBA Professionalism Coordinating Counsel and serves on several nonprofit boards of directors.
