Program Description
 
This program will explore practical examples of the unanticipated problems created by the relationship between insurance retained counsel, their client, and the insurance company. The focus will be on real world examples that face the practitioner when the interests of an insurance company and the client may conflict or accidentally conflict.

Dennis B. Polk is an officer, director, and shareholder of the firm of Holley, Albertson & Polk, P.C. The primary focus of his practice is commercial civil litigation. A significant amount of his time concerns insurance coverage issues. He also represents a number of builders, general contractors, and developers with respect to construction defect claims. He has tried numerous cases in state and federal jurisdictions involving a variety of issues. He is admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the Tenth Circuit.
 
Mr. Polk has frequently served as a lecturer and panel participant in many continuing legal education programs throughout the State of Colorado on a variety of topics. He has also presented at seminars conducted by the Rocky Mountain Land Institute and the Home Builders Association of Colorado. He is often asked to teach classes for governmental employees regarding land use and eminent domain.
 
Mr. Polk is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the First Judicial District Nominating Commission, and the American Inns of Court. In the past, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the First Judicial District Bar Association and the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association. He was president of the First Judicial District Bar Association in 1991-1992 and vice-president of the Colorado Bar Association in 1998-1999. He has received many awards throughout his career, including the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award in 1985 from the First Judicial District Bar Association; the Professionalism Award from the Colorado Bar Association in 1998; and the Award of Merit from the First Judicial District Bar Association in 2001. He also is a Little League coach in baseball and football.
